Dr Mishra delivers lecture in SKIMS

Srinagar 20, 2011: Renowned gastroenterologist, Dr S P Mishra of Motilal Nehru Medical College Allahabad delivered a lecture on “ten commandments for doctors” in the auditorium of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Soura today.
Dr Mishra gave a detailed presentation on the subject enlightening the audience. Enumerating the commandments he said that doctors who are a distinguished class should be rational in their thinking, curious, recognize good ideas and be professionally competent besides being honest, humble and dedicated to their profession. He exhorted upon the doctors not to give in and take on challenges in the larger interest of the patients.
Dr Mishra underscored the importance of publication and research. He urged upon the participants to publish works critical to their profession. He said that doctors should conduct need based research and validate western ideas in their local set up and environment.
Dr. Mishra is presently working as professor in Motilal Nehru Medical College Allahabd, department of gastroenterology – one of the premier medical institutes in India. He has more than 170 research papers and awards in his credit. He is also Secretary General of Indian Society of gastroenterology.
The guest was earlier welcomed by the Director SKIMS, Dr. S A Zargar. He hailed him for his contributions in academics and research in medical sciences. Applauding his efforts Dr Aargar described his presence as a rear moment from which “all of us should benefit”, adding that SKIMS is honored with presence of talented and dedicated doctors who he wished could reach similar heights.
The guest lecture was attended by senior faculty members, senior residents and postgraduate students, besides other participants. On the occasion Director SKIMS revealed that the visiting dignitary is running a unique interactive program for prospective DM students and announced SKIMS will also arrange such program in future to benefit and facilitate prospective DM students
