Early Times Report
Jammu, June 21 : Though the state executive committee ended its two day session in Jammu on Sunday it failed to take any firm decision regarding the future and fate of the seven MLAs who have been suspended from the organization, including Chaman Lal Gupta who has been expelled from the primary membership of the party for six years, on charge of having indulged in cross voting during the none too old Legislative Council election.
A senior party leader said that it was not on the agenda of the meeting to decide on the future of the suspended MLAs because only the party high command had the authority to revoke their suspension order or continue it for more time.
He said after watching the defiant postures of Prof.Gupta the party high command was not inclined to revoke the suspensions and expulsion order. The party leader said that instead of apologising the erring legislators had been trying to harm the BJP in Jammu an Kashmir but they have been already told that party was more important than the individuals.
Another leader said that the issue was not seriously debated in the executive committee meeting because the party leadership did not want to give any provocation to the suspended legislators who may go in for floating a new organization parallel to the BJP.
He said that since the opinion regarding the nature of further action against the legislators was divided the issue has been kept under the carpet.
He said delay in taking some added action against the legislators had to be deferred after reports had reached the party high command in Delhi that all of the four MLAs given a clean chit were not as clean as they were being projected because two among them had indulged in cross voting whereas some painted as tainted had not at all violated the party whip.
In view of these reports indications are that the suspension order is likely to continue for a couple of months and it may be revoked in case the suspended legislators did neither misbehavior indulged in any party activities.(KIP)
