3000 youth to be imparted tourism trainings: Jora | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, JUNE 21: Emphasizing that tourism is vital to boost state’s economy, Minister of Tourism and Culture Nawang Rigzin Jora said the government endeavours to review varied tourism potential initiating several reformative steps with special thrust on infrastructure building and exploring new destinations. Speaking at a function after inaugurating a modern restaurant “Kareem’s” at Boulevard on the bank of Dal Lake today this afternoon, the minister said that government is encouraging private public partnership under tourism sector, adding that for the purpose the government is facilitating to the entrepreneurs by logistic support with attractive incentives and soft loans for setting up of different trades under the sector. On the occasion, Director Tourism Kashmir, Farooq Ahmad Shah, representatives of various tourism trade associations besides tourists were present. Minister underscored the need for making franchise with reputed hotels from outside states for introduction of various cuisines serving to the tourists visiting state. He appreciated the step of the proprietor of Kareem’s restaurant for introducing Delhi and Mumbai cuisines. Jora said state’s tourism guarantees ample opportunities of employment generation and efforts of the government is on to take full benefits for promoting economy by imparting skill trainings to the youth. He said to acquaint the local educated youth with several vocations the training institutions like food craft centres in Jammu and Leh would be upgraded to the level of Hotel Management Institute, adding steps for upgradation of Jammu food craft centre would be taken soon. He said hotel management courses in Leh food craft centre would be introduced this year while as a full-fledged hotel management institute is already functioning in Srinagar. Minister said in order to provide training facilities of tourism trade to the rural youth hospitality certificate course this year would be introduced in 6 ITI’S 3 each in Kashmir and Jammu. He said the Centre under “Hunar Se Rozgar” programme has agreed to increase the number of intenders for imparting training of different skills under tourism trade, adding this year 3000 youth would be imparted necessary trainings so that they could earn their livelihood under this sector.
