Sham orders shifting of 3 BMOs for poor show
Suspends 1 doctor, fines 2 for violating dress code

SRINAGAR, JUNE 21: Taking serious note of the poor functioning of the health institutions in the Valley, Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Sham Lal Sharma today ordered shifting of three Block Medical Officers from their present places of posting.
During the surprise inspection of Sub-District hospitals, Magam, Beerwah and Primary Health Centre, Ompora of Budgam district, the Minister noticed poor management prompting him to order on-the-spot attachment of the concerned officers. BMOs, Magam and Ompora have been attached with the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, whereas BMO, Beerwah has been shifted to District Hospital, Budgam.
Two doctors - Dr. Tahir and Dr. Omar were fined Rs. 2000 each for violating dress code. Dr. Ghazala and Ali Mohammad, Pharmacist were transferred for dereliction of their duties.
The Minister also sought explanation from Dr. Samiya and B.A. Ganai Pharmacist in SDH, Beerwah for having remained absent for two days.
The Minister also ordered suspension of Dr. Heena Manzoor, Dental Surgeon of PHC, Ompora for marking attendance in advance, and transfer of Dr. Nelofar, Assistant Surgeon for her poor performance. He also directed for serving termination notice to two NRHM doctors for showing laxity in their duties.
Sham also ordered inquiry into the bungling of JSY account in SDH, Beerwah. The ASHAs of the area alleged that they were not being paid as per the norms and are not receiving proper cooperation from the authorities in discharging their duties. It was also found that the diaries devised by the NRHM defining their duties and incentives have also not been delivered to them. The Director Health Services has been asked to inquire into the matter and submit the report within a week.
Issuing a clear message to the doctors and para-medics to perform their duties responsibly, the Minister said that there is no place for irresponsible and non performing officials.
Sham directed the Director Health Services, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman to conduct frequent touring of different health intuitions in the rural areas and personally monitor the functioning and ensure that people get better services at their doorsteps.
The Minister also inspected the progress of ongoing construction work of buildings of SDH Magam and Beerwah.
