Kissan Board emerging as effective platform for raising farmers’ cause: Rashpal | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JUNE 21: Vice Chairman, J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans, Rashpal Singh has said that the Kissan Board has emerged as an effective platform for the farmers of the State to express and highlight difficulties faced to them. Singh was speaking at an interactive meeting of Advisory Board members and officers of concerned departments. He said that creation of the Kisan Board was a sincere demonstration of the Government’s resolve to effectively look into the plight of the farmers and suggest remedial measures for their overall welfare. He said the Board is also an effort of the government to come closer to the farmers and its work would be more relevant in addressing the problems that the community face in their day to day life. Singh further stated that more than 70% population of the State is engaged with agricultural activities but their plight has not changed over the years. “ There has been a very low growth of the farmers’ community which in return has discouraged the present day youth to opt for the farming activities ,”he added. Rashpal Singh impressed upon the members of the Advisory Board to aware the people about the schemes available under agriculture and its allied sectors. During the meeting a detail discussion was held on the schemes like Kissan Credit Card, Farmer Club, Horticulture Mission, Dairy schemes, etc. Directors of Horticulture and Floriculture, apprised the meeting about various schemes launched by their department to promote the activities under these sectors. The meeting was informed about various schemes launched by NARBARD besides Agriculture Department, Sheep Husbandry and various other departments.
