BJP to oppose any dilution of J-K's bonds with India | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 22:Demanding abrogation of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir unit of BJP said it would oppose "tooth and nail" any dilution of the state's bonds with the rest of the country. "We resolve to oppose tooth and nail any dilution of the state's bonds with the rest of the country besides working towards defeating the anti-national forces in Jammu and Kashmir," state BJP Spokesperson Ramesh Arora said on Tuesday. Arora, who released two resolution on corruption and politics, was passed at a two-day long State Working Committee meeting held on June 18-19, said, "Accession and merger of Jammu and Kashmir with India is full and final.” BJP demands abrogation of Article 370, as it has only induced a sense of separatism and caused harm to the state and public, he said adding that Article 370, which at the time of framing of the constitution was a temporary provision, is still intact. The special status under Article 370 is the root cause for the stagnation of the state's economy, Arora added. "Some sector including NC want to dilute state's bonds with country by raising the bogey of autonomy and have triggered unnecessary debate over accession. "The accession and merger debate is over since unconditional accession was accepted by Maharaja Hari Singh and endorsed by constituent Assembly thereafter", Arora said. "We deprecate the attempt on part of the coalition government to revive the Justice Sagheer Ahmed's partisan Report (NCs autonomy ploy) appointing a sub-committee to examine its recommendations', he said. The appointment of interlocutors by the UPA is also an indication that it has made up its mind to grant appeasing concessions to the separatists and the Kashmir-centric political parties, Arora added. BJP takes pledge to intensify its campaign to educate the people about discrimination, delimitation, abrogation of article 370 and other vital issues by launching awareness campaigns at different levels in J&K in coming days, Arora said. The party also opposed withdrawal of Armed forces and scrapping of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in Jammu and Kashmir. The resolution condemned that freezing of delimitation till 2026 which, they said is a glaring instance of discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh to ensure hegemony of Kashmir over rest of the state.
