| High Court directs listing of Gun licenses case during vacations | | | EARLYT IMES REPORT JAMMU, June 21: The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir directed the listing of Gun Licenses case during vacations while issuing notice returnable within two weeks to Commissioner Secretary Home J&K, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi, Director Employment J&K Government, District Magistrates and Sub District Magistrate for Rajouri, Poonch and Mendhar respectively, SDPO, SIT, Jammu and one Adbul Rehman PSO MLA Kalakote. The Cort direction came in the wake of a writ petition filed by Rakesh Kumar and 17 others. The notice of depositing the guns issued by SIT, (SDPO) City West) Jammu purchased by the petitioners on the basis of licenses issued by SDM Mandher and ADM Rajouri on dated May 29, 2011 published in a local daily has been challenged besides seeking relief of reverting to credentials of the petitioners and non-seizure of their guns. The petitioners have pleaded in their case that all of them have credentials qualifying to hold the gun licenses and they have been issued valid licenses by the competent authority. They have further pleaded that the corruption is rampant in the offices undertaking public causes. They were subjected to payment of thirty to forty thousand of rupees each against the license and the purchase of gun by the officials and their agents including private respondent. The notice in the writ petition was issued by Justice Sunil Hali, Judge J&K High Court while Advocate Ashok Sharma appeared on behalf of the petitioners.
