Teachers continue hunger strike | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, June 21: In protest against the recent transfer order, masters continued their chain hunger strike for second day outside the office of Chief Education Officer (CEO). Demanding that department should scrap the recent order issued by the officials, Jammu and Kashmir United School Teachers Association (USTA), provincial president Hari Singh said that they will continue their agitation till the order is not revoked back as it is highly discriminatory. He accused the CEO of adopting anti-teachers attitude which due to which the teachers are not able to perform their duty. Taking strong exception of CEOs causal approach in mitigating their problems, provincial vice-president Banarsi Dass asserted that USTA will fight till all the masters posted in Bani, Malhar and far flung areas of Basoli and Billawar zones are not shifted back to suitable areas as some of them are handicapped or on verge of retirement. The district committee of USTA has expressed serious concern over the attitude of the education department towards the problems of the teachers. Those who sat on hunger strike today include, Bishan Dass, Puran Chand, Soba Ram, Dewasi Lal, Jagdish Singh, Yashpaul, Chaman Lal, Subash Chander, Ram Piari and Sudesh Kumari. |
