Pet dogs in Jammu to sport Municipal Corporation tags now | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jun 21: Pet owners in Jammu, the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir, will soon have to cough up a fine if their dogs don't wear the Jammu Municipal Corporation collar tags and if the canines are not registered with the civic body. "Pet dogs in Jammu will have to wear metal badges given to them by JMC after registration with the Corporation. The process has already started," Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Veterinary officer Dr S Sharma told PTI. According to a notice issued by JMC, all owners and keepers of pet dogs residing within Jammu Municipal limits are required to get their dogs registered in accordance with the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Corporation Act 2000. The owners have to fill an application containing the name of the dog or bitch, colour and identification mark, sex, breed, age, immunisation record and two photographs of the pets, he said. "The registration will be valid for a period of one year and has to be renewed every year. The registration fee will be Rs 500 and the renewal fee will be Rs 300," Sharma said. Owners will also have to submit an annual vaccination certificate of the dogs at the civic body's office every year, he added. "The registered dogs will get metal badges issued by JMC.If anyone is found keeping a pet dog without registering it he or she will be fined," he said.
