President Cup: Inderjeet bowls Treasurer XI to 26 runs win | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 22: Making an end to the two-day tie on day one only, Treasurer XI defeated Working President XI by 26 runs, courtesy deadly bowling by Inderjeet Singh, in the ongoing President Cup (league) tournament, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College hostel ground, here today. Inderjeet, who earlier batted well contributing maximum 30 runs to the team’s total, later helped the side defend the small target. He clinched eight wickets thereby demolished the Working President XI batting line-up. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Treasurer XI bowled out for a small total of 140 runs in 33.3 overs before lunch. In reply, Working President XI, who performed well in the previous tie against President XI, failed to repeat their feat and bowled out cheaply for 114 runs in 33.5 overs. Inderjeet Singh was top scorer with 21-ball 30 runs while Vimarsh Kaw (27), Sahil (19), Ankit (18), Guru Pratap (14) and Ajeet Pal Singh (11) were other batsmen who scored in double figure. From Working President XI, Anoop Magora was most successful bowler who claimed five wickets. Manik Gupta and Nitin Mehra shared two wickets each while Rahil Sambyal bagged one. Later, chasing a moderate target, Working President XI could not survive for long on the turning track and lost all their wickets cheaply for 114 runs in 33.5 overs. Except for Gurdeep Singh, who played patient innings of 58 runs, no other batsman could dare the opponent bowlers. Anil Kohli (18) and Rahil Singh (12) were only batsmen who could score in double figure. Inderjeet Singh was wrecker-in-chief from Treasurer XI with eight for 37 in 14.5 overs. Sahil and Farooq took one wicket each.
