JMC continues drive against the polythene bags

JAMMU, June 22: Continuing their drive against the polythene bags, S C Sawhney Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Jammu, the enforcement field staff led by Chief Enforcement Officer alongwith police, inspected the shops and other outlets in the areas of Narwal, Gangyal, Digiana, Trikuta Nagar.

During the inspection the team seized about 20 Kgs of polythene carry bags from the shopkeepers, vendors and others outlets in these areas and an amount of Rs. 5400/- was charged as fine from 13 defaulters on spot who were using the polythene carry bags.

The teams also made the people aware of the ban imposed by the state Govt. on the use of polythene carry bags and they were requested to discard its use and adopt alternate arrangement to carry their commodities.

Besides this, the team also removed the hoardings / banners which were erected / displayed by different firms / agencies upon public places in these areas and seized one truck of load of such material.

Apart from this, while continuing the drive against the adulteration of milk the Municipal Veterinary Officer alongwith field staff visited the areas of Jewel Area, Rehari Colony, Sarwal, Subash Nagar, Patoli, Janipur, Roop Nagar, Bantalab etc.

During the drive 89 milk cans were checked, out of which 1 milk can which was of sub-standard quality / not fit for human consumption was destroyed on spot. The team had visited the meat shops in the areas of Narwal, Trikuta Nagar, Channi, Gangyal, Kunjwani Area and charged fine from the defaulters for selling the unstamped meat.

The team had also lifted 11stray animals from the areas of Ambphalla, Panjthirthi, Canal Road, Bhagwati Nagar, Janipur, Bakshi Nagar, Gretaer Kailash, Gandhi Nagar etc., and impounded the stray animals in Municipal Cattle Pound.

A total fine of Rs. 7150.00 was charged from the erring milk vendors, meat sellers, and owners of the stray animals on spot. Also Rs. 3810.00 were realized as auction amount of the Stray Animals.
