| Vaishnoi Devi pilgrim dies of cardiac arrest | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, June 22:
An elderly Vaishno Devi pilgrim died of cardiac arrest when he reached base camp Katra after performing the holy pilgrimage along with his family.
According to police sources, the pilgrim has been identified as Prasad Shukla, 80, son of Devta Shukla, resident of Tirthi, district Rewa, Madhya Pradesh.
The deceased fell unconscious last night when he along with family reached Katra base camp after paying obeisance at Vaishno Devi cave shrine, police sources added.
He was shifted to hospital but was declared brought dead.
"Cardiac arrest was the reason behind his death," police said, adding that after conducting the post-mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to the family for last rites.
