Early Times Report.
Jammu, jun 22: Despites high claims of the government of Jammu and Kashmir to provide basic facilities to the peoples of all the three regions of the state, Yet it seems only in the saying as no measures are being taken up on it.
Jammu city, one of the hottest place of the state is facing the problem of unscheduled power cuts from the last couples of years and it seems no one is keen to take steps on it. As the reception and consumption of the electricity was unchanged during Mufti’s government but the curtailment of electricity was below par. Due to this curtailment the populace of the winter capital is facing the problem.
This curtailment has broadly affected the life of the students in particular belonging from the districts of Doda, Ramban, Kishtwar, Poonch and Rajori including the patients of these districts.
The Bagh-e Bahu a picnic spot of the city is visited by large numbers of peoples and tourists during evening hours face lot of problems due to unscheduled power cuts. A local shopkeeper when contacted said, unscheduled power cuts have broadly affected the business and the local resident of this locality. He said number of times this matter was brought into the notice of the concerned MLA of the area, but no action has been taken to mitigate the problem.
When contacted to the PDD officials they said the unscheduled power cut are due to the illegal means in these areas as peoples belonging to these areas are putting excess load by hooking wire through the illegal means. Though PDD provides electricity in accordance to the legal connection in these areas, he added. But we have now developed a better means to supply power which will help in tracing out the illegal connections and we will become able to provide power with out any unscheduled cuts. For checking the illegal connections we are going to do the metering on the main HT (High Tension) line, he further added.
