Govt mulls housing colonies for legislators, media persons: Dy CM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, JUNE 22: Government is contemplating to set up housing colonies for legislators, media persons and economically weaker sections in the twin capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar. This was stated by the Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand while chairing a high level meeting of officers here today. The Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development and Home, Nasir Aslam Wani besides, Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, The Deputy Chief Minister asked the officers to identify the requisite land within shortest possible time, prepare DPRs and submit the report within ten days positively so that the proposal is given the final shape. Tara Chand said that this initiative will fulfil the long pending demand of media persons who will be facilitated in their professional duties. Speaking on the occasion, Nasir Aslam stressed on efficient utilization of funds. He stressed on fastracking projects to expedite execution, without which he said full utilization of funds is not possible. The Minister expressed dissatisfaction on the pace of projects of Srinagar Development Authority and Srinagar Municipal Corporation and called for bringing marked improvement in their work culture. Suresh Kumar, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmed, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, S. C. Sawhney, Vice Chairpersons of Srinagar and Jammu Development Authorities, Dilshada Khan and Vinod Sharma, Managing Director Housing Board, Dileep Thusoo and Chief Town Planner, J&K, Iftikhar Ahmed participated in the meeting.
