Dr Roop Lal re-elected as member of CCIM | | | Early Times report JAMMU, June 22: Dr. Roop Lal Sharma Chairman Jammu Institute of Ayurveda Research has been elected 2nd time as member to the Central Council of Indian medicine (CCIM) Department of Ayush Ministry of Health and family welfare. There were three candidates in the fray after the scrutiny. Other two Candidates namely Dr. Mahesh Chander Sharma and Dr. Nitin Mahajan withdrew from the contest. It is pertinent to mention that prior to this he was elected to the CCIM from the University Quota. CCIM is an Apex Body of Ayush representing Ayurvedic, Unani and Siddha System of Medicine. The CCIM has been constituted by an act of parliament and its members are elected from the registered Practitioners of ISM from all over India. Talking to media Dr. Roop Lal Sharma who is an eminent Educationists running many academic and professional institutions, thanked Dr. Mahesh Sharma & Dr. Nitin Mahajan who have withdrawn their contest from the election fray keeping in view their mission to strengthen the Ayurveda System of Medicine on the persuasion of state Administration and Dr. Abdul Kabir Oar, Director, ISM. He said that there are many organizations representing the Ayurvedic system of Medicine what all with a mission for the upliftment of ISM in the J&K. He said that he is filing a writ petition in High Court for NPA to be paid to Ayurvedic Medical Officers (BAMS) as in the case of their counterparts like MBBS and BDS.
