| SRTC employees hold protest, demand arrears | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 22: Hundreds of voluntary retirement employees of Jammu Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) today held a protest demonstration in front of SRTC headquarters here to press their demands for grant of Sixth Pay Commission and release of arrears. Voluntary retirement employees of JKSRTC assembled at Bikram Chowk area of the city and held demonstrations demanding implementation of Sixth Pay Commission, grant of arrears of Common Living Allowance (COLA) and Contributory Provident Fund (CPF). "We have been running from pillar to post to get COLA arrears, grant of Sixth Pay Commission and Contributory Provident Fund (CPF) arrears for since January 1, 2006", President of VRS Association of JKSRTC, Dev Raj Bali said. "If the government and JKSRTC failed to pay us the arrears, we will intensify the agitation and sit on indefinite strike at JKSRTC headquarters," he said. "The file on these demands is pending for approval at finance department at civil secretariat for past four months and nothing is being done despite promises made by the government that all arrears would be paid by March 31, 2011", he said. Over 2000 employees took VRS from JKSRTC during 2009 and 2010 under a special scheme.
