Man found dead at Gurah Salathia; murder suspected | The body of man who was found lying dead near Gurah Salathia in Samba on Wednesday. Police say he died of heart attack, but distinctive ligature mark is clearly visible around his neck | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 22: An old man was today found lying dead under mysterious circumstances at Simbalwali in Gurah Salathia area of Samba. Quoting family, police sources said he died of heart failure. This police theory, however, raised a question mark on the police functioning as the dead had bruises and a distinctive mark of rope like object around his neck. Sources said Nishchint Singh (65), son of Nanak Singh, was found lying dead at a secluded place near his field at Simbalwali in the evening. He was shifted by some villagers to Vijaypur hospital where doctors pronounced him brought dead. In the medico-legal case, he was said to have died of hanging. The villagers later took the body home without its post-mortem which was mandatory to establish the cause of death. Sources said when a police party went to Gurah Salathia to take possession of the body, the locals did not let it do so.It could be a suicide or a murder as each leaves a distinctive ligature mark. Sources said Nishchint was a rich man and had hundreds of kanals of land at Gurah Salathia. The possibility of his murder by someone to grab his land and property was not ruled out, the sources added. |
