Govt has failed to stop ‘illegal’ appointments in Health Deptt: DAK | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, June 23 (KNS): Doctors Association Kashmir Thursday alleged that the government had failed to stop the illegal appointments and promotions of Block Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents, Chief Medical Officers, Deputy Directors and Directors in Health and Family Welfare departments. The DAK alleged that some ‘blue-eyed’ persons were being promoted in violations of departmental norms. “The illegal and undue promotions of blue-eyed doctors in the department who have been made BMOs, Medical Superintends and CMOs are increasing rapidly,” a spokesperson of the DAK said. “At no point of time seniority and merit is being taken into consideration and only influential people are being promoted,” he alleged. The Association said that there were some ‘corrupt’ people in the department. “The undue appointments and promotions of such doctors are being done after receiving the hefty sums which has prompted lot of corruption in the department,” the DAK alleged. The Association said that they will take up the issue with the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. “DAK will soon take the issue of irregularities with the Chief Minister and also hold a press conference to highlight these irregularities in order to make health department transparent and corruption free,” the spokesperson said. Stating that the association has made multiple pleas to the government for ensuring transparency, the association claims “government has failed to do so till date”. The Association condemned the recent “harassment” meted to the senior doctors in SDH Kupwara by Dr Masrat. “Dr Masrat is junior most and has been given additional charge of BMO SDH Kupwara as he is close to the Director Health,” the DAK alleged.
