Anti Tobacco squad recovers Rs 4,500 as fine from smokers | KU Prof caught smoking | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, June 23 (KNS): The anti-tobacco squad constituted by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon raided shopkeepers selling cigarettes within 100 yards of Educational institutions and recovered fine of Rs 3,900 from them for violating Section 6 (b) of COTPA. The team also caught three persons smoking in the canteen of Kashmir University including one Professor from Islamic Studies Department and recovered a fine of Rs 600 from them for violating section 4 of Anti Tobacco Act. They were counseled against the ill effects of smoking and the various provisions of the Anti Tobacco Act, which prohibits smoking in public places. The team also removed tobacco advertisement boards from over 100 shops which had been displayed in violation of Section 5 of COTPA.
