Chopra family murders: Tallo, Ajab sent to judicial custody | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 23: NC leader and ex-MLC Trilochan Singh Wazir alias Tallo and his brother Ajab Singh, who were arrested on June 9 last in the Chopra family murders, were today sent to judicial custody or 15 days. The order to this effect was issued by 2nd additional munsiff (duty magistrate) Renu Dogra after the two Wazir brothers were produced in her court, following the expiry of their police remand. As per the court directive, they were lodged in the district jail at Ambphalla. The special investigation team (SIT) of police had requested the court to lodge them in separate jails. A request was also made to keep Tallo in the district jail, Kathua. The reason cited by SIT in support of its request was that the accused, who were brothers, co-accused and conspirators in the Chopra family murders, could further hatch a conspiracy if they were kept together in the same jail. The court observed that the SIT apprehension could be solved by making arrangements and their segregation was not required in this particular case. The court rejected the SIT request and ordered to keep both the accused in the district jail, Jammu, with a direction to the jail incharge to keep them in separate rooms. The SIT also submitted that Sanjay Sharma alias Sanju of Manda, Akhnoor, who was also an accused in the case, was absconding. However, Nagar Singh alias Nago, who was also an accused in the case, was presently lodged in Hiranagar jail in Amandeep murder case. His custody for investigation in the Chopra murders could not be taken due to vacations in the court. |
