| SVO books ex CAPD director, 3 asstt directors in transportation scam | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 23: In a transportation scam that got exposed in 2009, the state vigilance organization (SVO) has registered a case against the then CAPD director, three assistant directors and five contractors.
They included ex CAPD director, Jammu, Hemant Kumar Sharma, ex assistant directors (Ramban) -- Saifuldin Giri, Krishan Kumar Sharma and Zaffar Ullah Bhat -- and contractors -- Ghulam Rasool Bhat, Towseer Ahmed, Mohammad Rafiq Paddar, Abdul Gani and Fayaz Ahmed. While other officers got superannuation, Hemant Kumar is presently performing his duty as Special Secretary Higher Education.
A case was registered by SVO against all of them under section 5(2) read with section 5(1) (d) of J&K PC Act, 2006, and section 120-B of RPC for allowing higher rates for the transportation of food grains in Ramban district.
According to the FIR, in 2009-2010, the transportation of food grains in Ramban was allowed to the five contractors at a higher rate due to which the state exchequer had suffered a loss of Rs 25,67,106. |
