Administration giving final touches to Amarnath Yatra | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 24: As few days are left for the start of annual Amarnath yatra administration has put in special arrangements for the smooth conduct of the yatra. Administration is giving final touches to its arrangements. Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal has stressed the need for close coordination between different departments for ensuring fool-proof arrangements pertaining to their respective departments for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath ji Yatra. Dr. Kotwal was addressing a meeting of district officers of different departments at Udhampur to review the arrangements for Shri Amarnath ji Yatra here on Friday. Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. Baseer Ahmed Khan, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, S. Gurvinderjeet Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Udhampur and officers of PDD, PWD, PHE, CA&PD, Municipality and district police were present in the meeting. The meeting reviewed in detail the arrangements being put in place by the district administration enroute from village Tikri to Patnitop for the hassle-free Yatra. These include drinking water and power supply at the already identified locations of stay in case of bad weather, sanitation, lodging and langar facilities, medicare, traffic and security arrangements etc. To ensure the quality and rates of eatables and other essential commodities during the yatra period especially along the National Highway, Dr. Kotwal issued specific instructions to the officers of different departments to conduct regular checking of market and ensure that there is no over charging by the shopkeepers. Sources said that additional men and machinery have been put in place so that yatra which will officially start from June 28, is conducted in peaceful manner.Arrangements like food supplies and essential facilities like medical camps have been set up, where medicines and doctors will be made available to the pilgrims.Also, availability of electricity and water is arranged and in case of any disaster, arrangements like fire fighting for disaster management have been given special attention.Meanwhile administration is giving final touches to the security arrangement for the Yatra right from Lakhanpur to Shri Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir to ensure that there is no untoward incident.The security forces would man dominates positions at the Bhawan while BSF and CRPF along with police would be deployed all along twins’ tracks of Pahalgam and Baltal besides two national highway of Pathankot to Jammu and Jammu to Srinagar. According to source Shri Amarnath administration is fully prepared of Jammu to Pathankot National Highway for the convenience of devotees from the trip to base camp is the original structure, which is in the final stage. He further said that the concerned authorities’ also established police to help center for devotees in Kunjwani. The main gate of Yatri Niwas created two temporary checkpoints for those passengers to enter the residence which is now the deployment of security personnel. Organisers of Langars (community dining halls) have also come forth with their voluntary services for the devotees serving them food and other facilities. "We are eagerly waiting for devotees here so that we can serve them and also distribute holy offering to the pilgrims. We want their Yatra to begin as soon as possible," said Saraswati, an organiser of a Langar from Delhi.
