PDP ridiculed Omar’s statement on Panchayat elections

JAMMU, June 24: Peoples Democratic Party has ridiculed statement of chief minister Omar Abdullah in which he has stated that National Conference has secured first position in the just concluded Panchayat elections.
Addressing a function which was held to felicitate newly appointed state secretary of the party Bharat Bhushan Gupta, PDP vice president and former Rajya Sabha member Trilok Singh Bajwa expressed surprise over tall claims of chief minister regarding outcome of the Panchayat elections.
Bajwa said that chief minister has been making fake claims. He said that elections were held on the non party basis so it was unwise on the part of the chief minister to make such claims.
Countering claims of the chief minister, Bajwa dared the ruling National Conference to conduct civic bodies elections to test its popularity.
“Instead of making fake claims the chief minister should announce the civic bodies elections in the state which will clear positions of all parties”, he said and added candidates, who have background of National Conference, were routed in the Panchayat elections and chief minister has been to check the record.
Bajwa said since its formation, the present government has been befooling the people by making false claims. It is a reality that this regime has lost credibility of the people.
Speaking on occasion, former MLC and senior PDP leader Ved Mahajan cautioned the people against gimmicks of the ruling party.
He said that expect making tall claims this regime has done nothing to solve day today problems of the people. He further added that performance of the present regime appeared only papers but this government has lost grounds due to its wrong and anti-people policies.
Congratulating Bharat Bhushan Gupta for his appointment as state secretary of PDP, Mahajan said that appointment of Gupta would strength party in Jammu region in general and Poonch-Rajouri districts in particular.
In his address, Bharat Bhushan Gupta expressed his gratitude towards party leadership for reposing faith on him.
