Omar changed accession remarks under pressure from Delhi: Geelani | | | Srinagar: Terming United Nation Secretary General Ban-Ki-moon's yesterday's statement as a 'positive development' Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Friday alleged that Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, changed his statement regarding accession with India, 'after he was scolded by his masters in New Delhi.' Addressing a Friday gathering at Balgarden here Geelani alleged that New Delhi forced Omar to take back his remarks on accession. "Omar Abdullah first nullified the accession of Kashmir with India in the Legislative Assembly but was afterwards ordered by his masters in Delhi to change his statement," he said and added, "We will never compromise with any party on Kashmir." Criticizing the accession of Kashmir with India, he said a single person's wish could not construct the future of millions of Kashmiris. "The childish statements by Chief Minister are not going to lessen the aspirations of Kashmiris," he said. "The people of Kashmir have never been asked to choose between the two, how we could be part of India without peoples' wishes," Geelani asked. Welcoming Banki-Moon's recent statement, he said, The solution to the Kashmir problem has to be found to end all the controversies. The vexed Kashmir issue has directly or indirectly affected whole of the subcontinent." "Without a solution instability in the region will remain there always," he added. |
