Law enforcers violating law in Rajouri
On duty forest officials beaten up by Darhal police

Who will enforce law when the law enforcing agencies are themselves violating laws. In Rajouri’s Darhal area, police has beaten up three forest department officials who were on duty checking the transportation of sleepers about which they had already received inputs. The sleepers according to the forest officials were being smuggled by the police itself. However police is rejecting the allegations of the forest department.
Sources said that a party of forest officials along with Forest Protection Force personal had hold naka at Darhal to check smuggling of forest wood. They had already received inputs that some people are smuggling sleepers in vehicle bearing registration number JK02-5179 and when the vehicle reached there they found three policemen along with the sleepers who according to forest officials were themselves smuggling the wood.
The forest officials alleged that when they were asked to show the papers, they were severely beaten up by calling additional police men from police station Darhal. Three forest officials injured in the scuffle following which they hold protest demonstration in Rajouri raising anti-police slogans. These officials were supported by all forest officials in their protest and demanded action against the police action on the government officials on duty.
The protesting officials alleged that policemen were themselves smuggling this wood and they had no papers with them. “This is violation of law and it is being done by those who are law enforcing machinery of the government” forest officials said. They added that police is making hurdle in their work and they are helping the smugglers.
Meanwhile Divisional Forest Officer Ramesh Kumar has said that his department has taken up the matter with higher ups of police as attack on their official from police will not be tolerated. He said that police higher ups have assured proper action against the culprit policemen.
Police on the other hand has said that they had already seized the wood and they were being taken it to custody but forest officials forcibly wanted to drag them in the case. They added that no official have been beaten up in the incident
