| Summer adventure camp 2011 concludes | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, June 24: Northern Command Summer Adventure Camp for the wards of all ranks of service persons and civilian staff serving in Northern Command concluded on June 22. The camp with the aim of inculcating and developing a flair for adventure, evoking ecological awareness and fostering a spirit of camaraderie and National integration among children was conducted in General Area Dalhousie (HP) under the arrangements of Stealth Warrior Brigade from 16 June to 22 June. The camp was organised for age groups 11- 15 years and 16- 18 years. 88 children participated in the fun filled week. The focus of the camp was to invoke inquisitive spirit amongst children. Activities included trekking, rock climbing, rappelling, spot painting, first aid and life saving drills, riding, para sailing and ropeway ride. Competitions like dancing, singing, camp pitching etc enabled the children to understand community living, espirit-de-corps and helped them in building peer group interaction. Sight seeing to the picturesque Khajiar and Panchpilla enthused the children to a new world with different horizons. . The camp culminated on 22 June with the students organising a camp fire cum entertainment programme wherein they displayed their talents in singing and dramatics. Prizes were distributed to the winners in various competitions held during the camp.
