Tara chand inspects Dal cleaning | | | SRINAGAR, JUNE 24: The Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today inspected the cleaning of world famous Dal Lake. He said for the purpose, the Government has recently purchased latest machinery of worth Rs 6.50 cr which includes two weed harvesters and two transport barges. During the inspection, Tara Chand was informed that these modern machines have equipped with latest technology and they yielded desirable results. “The weeds taken out from the Dal are taken to Shalimar for decomposition and are being used by the farmers for their paddy fields”, he was further informed. The Deputy Chief Minister enjoined upon the officers of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) to engage more labours so that the weed being dumped on the road is being lifted immediately so that the tourists could not face any inconvenience. While interacting with a group of Shikara wallas at Nehru Park, Tara Chand instructed them to keep dustbins in every shikara and ensure that the wastage should not be thrown in Dal . He also stressed on them to treat each and every tourist politely and do not charge exorbitant rates for shikara riding. Vice Chairman, LAWDA Irfan Yaseen Shah, Executive Engineer R. C. Gupta, and a team of senior officers accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister during the tour.
