Government duty bound for employees welfare: Rather | | | SRINAGAR JUNE 24: Minister for Finance, A. R. Rather today reiterated Government’s commitment to further strengthen cordial relations with the Government Employees and to listen to their grievances with an open mind. Interacting with a delegation of Civil Secretariat (Non-Gazetted) Employees Union led by its acting President Mr. Raouf Ahmad, tshe Minister said employees welfare is the primary concern of the Government adding that all the requisite measures would be taken to provide congenial working atmosphere to them so that they are able to deliver public services in a better and efficient manner. “Safeguarding interests of our employees is our paramount duty” Mr. Rather added. He enjoined upon the union leaders to supplement Government efforts to make administration more responsive and pro-active to the aspirations of the people. “Service to humanity is the best form of worship”, Rather added. Rather said, whereas, most of the demands of employees have been fulfilled, the remaining ones shall also be discussed adding that an exclusive meeting with both employees representatives and concerned officers shall be convened shortly for the purpose. Earlier, the Union leaders pleaded for a comprehensive review of the existing accommodation policy for the employees both at Srinagar and Jammu and sought to do away with the temporary Hotel accommodation arrangement adding that this system besides being un-comfortable to the employees, creates a huge burden on the exchequer. They urged for constructing sufficient Govt. quarters both at Jammu and Srinagar to accommodate more employees and to solve the problem once for all. While thanking the Finance Minister for extending benefits of the 6th Pay Commission recommendation to its employees, the Union leaders sought early measures to release the remaining 50% arrears on this account. Secretary General of the Union, Ghulam Mehdi and Secretary, Subash Koul were also present.
