TTDF lament trifurcation of Thathri leading to non development in the area | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, June 25: Tehsil Thathri Development Front has urged the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah about the ignorance of Tehsil in sanctioning a Polytechnic College and ITI college to Thathri. Kuldeep Kumar Rao , president of the Front said that that Tehsil Thathri is trifurcated and its areas are attached with Bhadarwah, Inderwal and Doda constituencies due to which there is no interest of any MLA with this Tehsil and this is being totally ignored by all sectors. Rao lamented that the Congress-NC government has failed to understand that equitable development is not possible without delimitation of assembly and parliamentary constituencies. Rao also appealed to all political parties to come above politics and support the bill on constitution of delimitation commission in this coming session. Delimitation is the urgent need of the hour and is a public demand so that places which have been fragmented and adjusted in the various legislative constituencies are brought under one unit to ensure the proper development process. J&K status has special status and this government can amend any law if the government is interested. Rao further said that the state assembly during NC rule had passed a law under which the delimitation of assembly and parliamentary constituencies could not be held till 2026. This has led to injustice with the Jammu Province which has more population and area than Kashmir but only 37 Assembly seats have been provided to it as compared to Kashmir valley which has 46 assembly seats with less population and covers less area as compared to Jammu. Rao said that for equitable development to all the regions, earlier decision needs to be withdrawn to give justice to Jammu province. All MLAs and leaders from Jammu who are in PDP and in National Conference should support the bill for equitable development for all regions & prove their loyalty to their own region which is a noble & patriotic quality & can not be labeled as regionalism. Even those who are in NC & Congress should either make the alliance government responsive towards the genuine demands of the region or quit at once and sacrifice their petty personal interests for the larger interest of their aggrieved brethren. Rao also demanded 73rd& 74th amendments of the constitution of India regarding empowerment of local democracies be adopted by the J&K assembly. The main demands of the people of Jammu region are delimitation of assembly as well as parliamentary constituencies, allotment of CET seats on regional bases, creation of new tehsils & districts on the bases of equal distribution of population in comparison to those of Kashmir Division, equal and near equal number of employees in the civil secretariat from both the regions of the state, and equal distribution of funds to both the divisions. Rao alleged that the ruling alliance makes hollow announcements in this regard but does nothing practically.
