| ARMY Organises dangal, kabaddi COMPETITION | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Rajouri (25 Jun 2011). Samote Army of Budhal Tehsil today organized a ‘Dangal and Kabaddi Competition’. The event drew some fresh and renowned competitors from local as well adjoining areas. The aim of the event was to inculcate the ‘Sportsman Spirit’ amongst the youth.
A total of 11 bouts were organized in which both technical and mental robustness of competitors was at display. Some renowned wrestlers including Pehalwan Prahlad Singh, KP Singh from Khawas,
Sher Mohd from Sungri and Pawan Pehlwan from Jammu participated in the event. The
event was well conducted by the match refree Khadim Hussain (National level player from J&K).
This was followed by the Kabaddi event between various schools. The enthusiasm of toddlers was evident from the spirit of their teams.
The winners were evidently very happy with their performances. Speaking during the occasion one of attendee Mohd Iqbal, Sarpanch Samote said “we the awam are very thankful to the Army
for reviving the game in this remote part of the Country. The spirit seen here is
display of peace in the area”. The Commanding Officer of Samote Army, the chief guest,
also remarked “Army is here to assist the locals and we would go a longway to assist the youth is gaining professionalism in sports and education”. He later gave away cash as well as other prizes to the winners. The event concluded with a sumptuous tea with the participants.
