President Cup: Secretary XI set 256 runs target | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 25: Batting first after President XI won the toss and opted to field, general secretary XI set a target of 256 losing all their wickets in 78.2 overs on the opening day of the two-day match of President Cup (league) tournament, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today. In reply, President XI made a confident start and were playing at 20 without any loss at the end of day-one play. Paras Sharma and Vijay Dogra were at the crease with 11 and five runs in their respective accounts. Earlier, Amit Baloria played superb innings of 67 runs for general secretary XI while Shashi Kumar and Jaswinder Singh contributed 54 and 41 runs respectively. Dhruv Mahajan contributed valuable 28 runs while four other batsmen Somay Jain (15), Pranav Gupta (14), Dilbagh Singh (12) and Arshed Sheikh (10) made small contributions to the total. From President XI, Vijay Dogra was most successful bowler with five for 76 in 23 overs while Pankaj Sasun took three for 36 in 13.2 overs. Akash Bhalwal bagged two wickets. This match is being officiated by Salim-ur-Rehman and Sadiq Hussain Malik while Raghav Verma was scorer.
