More than 19000 students appear for CET | | | Mishu Gupta EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu , June 25 As many as 19,800 candidates appeared for the Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Test (JKCET) conducted by the Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) for which it has setup 35 centres across the state. Today students took test in Chemistry and Physics papers for which special arrangements were made by the administration at all the centres established for the purpose. Board officials said that about 9,000 students appeared in Jammu, while 10,800 candidates appeared in Kashmir to try their luck in selection for MBBS, BE, BDS, BVSC and other allied professional courses run by the government and private institutes in the state. Tomorrow candidates will appear for Biology and Mathematics paper. A top board official said said that test was conducted peacefully in all the places and there was close cooperation between various agencies involved in the process. “No untoward incident was reported from any of the centres and at all the places special teams kept close vigil on the candidates to detect any case of impersonation”, he said. About 19 centers have been established in Jammu, while 16 have been set up in Kashmir for the examination. As a new feature this year all the students got the carbon copy of their answer sheet so that they are able to judge their performance after the board will upload the answer key on its website. Meanwhile, those who appeared in the test were quite upbeat with their performance and satisfied with the arrangements. “I feel the question paper was not that difficult and I hope to crack the test to get my favourite college and engineering course”, said Sandeep Tidyal, aiming to be an engineer. Shagun Shram , another student, said this was her first attempt. Though she was nervous before entering the examination hall, she was relieved once she saw the question paper. . We did not find time to solve all problems,” said Sohila , Neha, Amarpreet and other students. Similar views were shared by the students appearing in Government College for Women, “Physics paper was tough”, they said in unison. On the other hand , many students like Sachit Chaudhry, Pawan Preet and scores of students found the papers ‘all-right’. Hundreds of students took the CET (Common Entrance Test) examination this morning. The boys and girls appearing for this examination aspire to be future engineers. It was a balanced paper. The thrust was on the XI and XII syllabus, a physics lecturer, said. "The paper was very easy this year as compared to last year. The examiner has set a balanced question paper,” added another Professor of GCW Gandhi Nagar . She also added that the paper was good for average as well as above average student.
