Akriti wins women’s chess tourney | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 26: Akriti Sharma today clinched the women’s title in state level chess tournament which was organised by All J&K Chess Association at Hotel Nek, here. Second place went to Meenal Gupta while Arushi Kotwal remained third. Fourth and fifth positions bagged by Mehak Bakshi and Naindeep Kour respectively. This day-long women’s tournament was organised to select the state team for forthcoming national champioinship.
Danish first in prize money tourney
Meanwhile, the first place in the month-end prize money (Rs 3500) tournament for players born on or after January Ist, 1995 went to Danish Pathania. Second place in this event, which held simultaneously at the same venue, was bagged by Ishan Raina. Shivinder Chib and Akriti Kotwal remained third and fourth respectively. Vikhyaat Mehta (5th), Meenal Gupta (6th) and Aadit Samnotra (7th) were other winners.
Sharing more detailed, president of the Association, Atul Gupta told SAN that next tournament shall take place on July 24 with higher prize money of Rs 4000 at the same venue at 9 am.
