J-K CPI(M) demands roll back of fuel price hike
6/26/2011 10:34:35 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, June 26 : The Jammu and Kashmir unit of CPI (M) today demanded an immediate roll back of the hike in fuel prices saying the latest increase would give further rise to inflation in the country.
"The hike in prices of diesel, LPG and kerosene is a cruel blow and makes mockery of all the assurances given by the government to reduce price rise," CPI(M) state secretary M Y Tarigami.
He said when the people are reeling under food price inflation, this new price hike will amount to a completely "back breaking" burden.
He said the Centre should immediately roll back the recent hike announced in the prices of these essential commodities.
Tarigami also called for widening the network of public distribution system in the state and enhancement in the food subsidy.
