Rajouri,June 26:-
Mughal Road witnessed heavy rush of people enjoying Car Rally where 100 ralliest tread Mughal emperor Akhbars road on Sunday with Suny Soodn of Chandigarh clinched first position who culminated the race in just 50 minutes creating a record.

As per reports, thousands of people today welcomed Mughal Motor Car Rally from Pir Gali to Baflias when the Car racers entered Poonch jurisdiction at Peer Ki Gali.

The rally was flagged off with more 100 participants taking part in the race which takes the motorists on the historic road, which is the only natural pathway connecting valley with the rest of the country.

The rally was flagged off from Srianagr by Nawang Rigzin Jora and Minster of State for Tourism Nasir Aslam Wani. "46 vehicles comprising of 100 drivers and navigators are participating in the race," Incharge of Himalayan Motor Sports, NGO told reporters .

The Mughal Road Car Rally takes the route from Srinagar to Dubjan in south Kashmir's Shopian district to Peer Ki Gali, Bufliaz in Jammu division's Rajouri district and will return from Jammu, Kishtwar, Simthan Pass, Anantnag and back to Srinagar.

This is the second edition of the rally since the road was opened for four wheel drive vehicles in 2009, on the ancient 89-kilometre Shopian-Bafliaz stretch of the Mughal road.

The route linking Kashmir with Poonch and Rajouri districts of the Jammu division has several rest houses, huts and many other historical monuments constructed by Mughal emperors.

Mughal road was the only natural passage available centuries ago, when Mughals emperors and their ministers would visit Kashmir.

The winner will be given a prize money of Rs 10 lakh.
