| Army foils infiltration attempt in Poonch | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 26: The army foiled an infiltration attempt from across the Line of Control (LoC) in bordering Poonch district here, official sources said today.
"A group of infiltrators indiscriminately fired on our Roshni and Chajja Maan posts at around 2130 hrs yesterday in Sagra Balnoi area of tehsil Mendhar when they were trying to sneak into the Indian Territory," the sources here said.
They said the army retaliated and the exchange of the fire continued for around two hours.
"Due to heavy rains with the onset of monsoon season, attempts are being made by the infiltrators to enter the Indian territory but the army has successfully foiled it," they added.
The infiltrators were successfully pushed back by the troops they said, adding that no incident of any injury or damage to property was reported. |
