| Organise adventure sport events in Kishtwar: Sheikh Nasir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, June 27: Youth Congress Leader Sheikh Nasir Hussain advocate has appealed the government to organise the adventure sport events like river rafting and trekking in mountainous district Kishtwar.
In a statement issued to press Sheikh Nasir has said that Kishtwar offers tremendous opportunities for mountaineering, trekking, river rafting and other adventure activities. As per Youth Congress leader peaks of the area have attracted mountaineers for years.
Sheikh Nasir has said that the river Chenab and its tributaries the Chandra and Bhaga pose the ultimate challenge for white water rafters.
He has further said that in past number of times requests were made to the government as well as to concerned authorities to organise river rafting but till date nothing has been done in this regard.
So far as trekking is concerned, Sheikh Nasir has said that Kishtwar – Zanskar range is ideal for high altitude trekking with high passes like the Umasi-la which is over 17000 ft.
He has appealed the Chief Minister to organize regular events every year to showcase the potential of this area and encourage the talent available here.
He has appealed that possibilities to start the annual championship in every event be explored.
He has appealed the Tourism minister Nawan Rigzin Jora to direct the authorities to oraginse adveture sports events as well as awareness camps which will generate awareness about different type of sports, especially over here, which many people are unaware of.
