HC stays Kathua SSP's order asking Sr PO to attend other courts too | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 27: High court vacation judge, Justice J P Singh today stayed an order of SSP, Kathua, wherein he had asked senior prosecuting officer in the court of CJM, Kathua, to attend courts at Basohli, Bani and Mahanpur in addition to his own duties. In his petition, senior PO Romesh Chander submitted that distance between the courts of Basohli, Bani and Mahanpur was about 200 km from Kathua as a result of which he might not be able to discharge his duties satisfactorily. Justice Singh observed that going by the terrain of the area and the distance between the courts where the petitioner had been asked to perform his duties as PO, there appeared substance in the contention of the petitioner that he might not be able to discharge his duties as satisfactorily in all the courts. The court issued notice to the respondents while ordering to stay the operation of SSP Kathua’s order No 457 of 2011 dated June 17, 2011, and directed that the petitioner might continue to function as senior PO in CJM's court at Kathua till further orders from the court.Justice Singh also directed DGP to see that only such POs were deputed to Basohli, Bani and Mahanpur, who could conveniently handle prosecution work there.
