More than 600 attended medical camp organised by Army in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 27: More than 600 persons, including women and children from far off and remote areas attended a day-long medical camp organised by the Army under Operation Sadbhavana in the frontier district of Kupwara, once a hub of militants in 90s. A defence ministry spokesman said Army has been organising medical camps and other welfare measures for the Awam in the Kashmir valley, besides making supreme sacrifice in fight against the militants. He said a medical camp was organised in village of Dudi in Machil sector near the Line of Control (LoC) which remained cut off during winter months due to heavy snowfall. The camp was organised by 45 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) to provide much needed medical care and awareness to the people of remote and far flung areas. A little girl attending the camp, which was attended by doctors from Army formation and civil administration, including a gynecologist and health educator. The camp commenced with administration of polio drops to infants. He said a large number of villagers attended the camp, where 617 patients, including 146 women and 199 children were treated and given free of cost medicine. Facilities of ECG, vaccination and laboratory were also extended. The unit had also made arrangements for transport for the civilians to reach Dudi from far flung villages.
