| Educative Camp for flower growers of Jammu organized | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
SANASAR, JUNE 27-Department of Floriculture Jammu, today organized one day Training camp for the flower growers of Jammu Province at flower Garden Sanasar.
The camp was held under the chairmanship of Director Floriculture Jammu K.K.Sharma. The Chief Executive Officer, Patnitop Development Authority Dr. M. A Malik was chief guest on this occasion.
During the camp Director Floriculture Jammu said that a large number of growers of temperate region of Jammu have adopted floriculture cultivation and are making good returns. He said especially the women farmers have taken the lead in switching over to flower cultivation and earn better livelihood for their family.
He assured farmers that department will provide every technical Know–how and financial assistance under various schemes for the development of commercial floriculture in the region.
The resource persons motivated the farmers to cultivate Lilium flower crop for better return and also called upon them to promote flori – tourism in this area. They gave a complete presentation on package and practices of lilium flower crop with practical on field training.
Dr Rakesh Nanda Incharge Krishi Vikas Kendra Jammu imparted training to farmers for organic farming and advised them to use vermcopst to give value addition in their field crops.
President flower Growers Association, S. Tajinder Singh said that it is a best time to trap the potential of upcoming festival session (Diwali Dushara) by growing Flowers in large scale and express thanks to Omar Abdullah Chief Minister of J&k state for sanctioning adequate funds for Development Of Agriculture
A large number of women farmers from Jammu province participated in the camp.
