LeT diktat to Mendhar girls: Wear burqa in schools | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, June 27: After its failed attempt to keep Muslims of Mendhar, Poonch, away from the recently concluded panchayat polls, the pan-Islamic Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit today issued a diktat to girls to attend schools in burqa. The warning was issued to the Mendhar girl students through two posters which were found pased on a wall in the main market there, according to police sources. However, after the matter came to their notice, police rushed to the spot and took the posters in their possession, the sources added. Through the posters, LeT had asked girls to attend schools in burqa and traditional dress. A suggestion was also made to Muslims not to use any kind of music instrument for their entertainment as it was anti-Islam. Sources said LeT also asked to close down at the earliest a wine shop which was operational in the main Mendhar market. Last month, the outfit had pasted posters at Salwa, Mendhar, threatening locals of dire consequences if they participated in panchayat polls. The warning, however, did not have any impact as several people had taken part in the election process. |
