Doc, two engineers placed under suspension for misleading minister | 'GMC Principal inefficient' | | Sumit Sharma EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, June 27: A doctor and an Assistant Electrical Engineer were both placed under suspension while an executive engineer is likely to be penalized for blatantly lying with a minister of the ruling coalition. The three officers tried to dodge the minister. Sources said that raid was conducted on the basis of a complaint. During raid in OPD section of Orthopedics, minister found that a junior doctor was sitting on the chair of Head of Department (HoD) Sudesh Sharma and on being asked about the HoD, junior doctor Irfan Banday (PG orthopedic) allegedly told him that HOD had left the office a little while ago. Sources further disclosed that his lie was detected when minister who was not satisfied with the explanation of junior doctor, inquired about the HoD. He was informed that doctor had gone on vacation and was on leave. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu Sanjeev Verma also accompanied the Minister. Minister asked the acting HOD of Orthopedics Dr. Farooq Ahmed for enforcement of the dress code and wearing of the name plates by medicos and paramedics, besides circulating duty charts of on-duty doctors. Angered over the blatant lie of the junior doctor, minister for medical education ordered his suspension and when contacted said that Principal Dr. Rajinder Singh was both inefficient and incapable of running the hospital. The situation was aggravated when another staffer lied to the minister. During his visit to emergency wing, minister was told that the Air Conditions were not working for the last four days. Minister, when sought the reason behind the fault from AEE Sanjeev Sharma was told by executive engineer M.K.Kailu that AEE has gone to upper story of the hospital for official work. However, on inquiry, he found out that AEE was missing from the last more than four days. He was further told that the concerned AEE was holidaying at a picnic spot in Udhampur. Minister immediately directed Chief Engineer (Mech) to suspend AEE and also take action against the concerned executive engineer. Minister called for better upkeep of medical equipments and infrastructure and regular servicing of the electrical appliances, including fans, coolers and ACs. He asked the mechanical department of the hospital to ensure proper functioning of ACs installed in the ICUs so that critical patients may not face inconvenience. |
