Dr Jitendra Singh cautions against priority to former militants | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 28: "Though we are not opposed to rehabilitation of former militants but it should not appear to be happening as a priority over nearly 7 lakh educated unemployed youth of the state who have been languishing without jobs for several years and many of whom have become overage to apply for a government job”. This was stated here today by BJP J&K Chief Spokesperson & National Executive Member Dr. Jitendra Singh while responding to the chief minister’s statement that there was an urgent need to rehabilitate surrendered militants. Dr. Jitendra Singh cautioned the NC led Congress coalition government in the state and the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre to guard against sending out a direct or indirect message that there is a premium on militancy or anti-India activism lest this should drive youth into picking up gun and then surrendering it only to gain place in government’s list of job seekers. One of the root causes of the origin of militancy in the state was frustration among youth because of blatant nepotism and lack of fair deal meted out to them, alleged Dr. Jitendra Singh. Dr. Jitendra Singh said the real urgency is not only to address the grievances of youth but also ensure equitable distribution of job opportunities among the regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
