Wild Life Board recommends hike in ex-gratia

EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, JUNE 28: With man and animal conflicts on rise in the State, the Wild Life Board has recommended to enhance ex-gratia relief for the victims of these incidents.
Decision to this effect was taken in 4th meeting of standing committee of State Board for wildlife, chaired by Minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology Mian Altaf Ahmad here today.
Commissioner/Secretary, Forest Shantmanu, Commissioner/ Secretary, Revenue, Kachu Isfandyar Khan, Principal Chief Conservator of forests, R D Tiwari, Chief Wild Life Warden, A K Singh, Director Forest Protection Force, Vinod Ranjan and representatives from wild life conservation society and prominent activists were also present in the meeting.
The Board also recommended hike in the ex-gratia relief from Rs 1 lakh to 2 lakh for death cases, Rs 1 lakh to 1.50 lakh for permanent incapacitation, Rs 33000 to 50,000 for serious injury and Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000 for minor/simple injury in man-animal conflicts. The funds on this account will be met out of CAMPA grants and non-plan budget.
