Bhalla reviews 4-laning of NH | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, JUNE 28: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today stressed upon the concerned functionaries to expedite the land acquisition process for 4-lane Pathankot-Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, adding powers have been decentralized to collectors for the speedy disposal of the awards. The Minister was speaking at a high level meeting here convened to review the pace of progress of the project. The Minister said that land measuring 20,242 kanals is needed for expansion of highway, of which 11,097 kanals have been handed over to National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), while as 5686 kanals of land are ready to be handed over to the concerned agency. He said the process for acquisition of remaining 3454 kanals is underway. Bhalla said that so far over Rs 350 crore have been disbursed as compensation among land owners. The Minister discussed threadbare all matters put-forth by the concerned Deputy Commissioners/Collectors and several decisions to clear the bottlenecks were also taken on-the-spot. The Minister said that Central Government is providing sufficient funds for completion of the prestigious highway project. He directed the concerned officers to ensure timely completion of the project. Among others who attended the meeting were Financial Commissioner, Revenue, Pramod Jain, Commissioner/Secretary, Revenue Kachoo Isfandyar Khan, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Pawan Kotwal, Additional Commissioner, Kashmir, Abdul Majid Mir, Deputy Commissioners of Srinagar and Pulwama districts, Collectors of concerned districts and Project Director of NHAI, Jammu.
