Rather than making false commitments, CM prefers to quit function | | | Early Times Report BEERWA, (BUDGAM), June 28: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah refused to make a false commitment to the people of Beerwa on their demand for a district and preferred to leave the venue then to lie to them here today. The Chief Minister when he realized that the organizer of the public meeting Professor Abdul Majid Matoo a local National Conference leader had gathered the crowd on the promise that the Chief Minister will announce the district status for Beerwa, told the crowd in no uncertain terms that even though he sympathized with them he cannot make a false commitment and explained to them the procedure adopted for creation of new districts. But when two or three among the organizers insisted that he should make the commitment even if it is later not met to please the gathered crowd the Chief Minister plainly refused and left the venue instead. He firmly asserted to the organizers that it was not in his grain to befool the people and make false promises to them because his politics is based on principles of truth and integrity. He said he will only promise what he can deliver. Earlier addressing the gathering the Chief Minister assured that the areas hitherto remaining out of development would receive attention during his Government’s tenure to ensure justice to the people living in these areas. Omar Abdullah said that during the last two and half years, his Government has concentrated attention on this aspect and various measures have been initiated to make development programmes balanced, compact and equitable all across the State.
