Patel Club Jammu, Adarsh Akhnoor in pre-QFs

AKHNOOR, June 28: Winning their respective matches, Patel Cricket Club (PCC) Jammu and Adarsh Cricket Club (ACC) Akhnoor today move into the next round of pre-quarterfinals of the ongoing 3rd Pawan Memorial Cricket (Tweny20) Tournament at Government Higher Secondary School ground, here.
Earlier, in the first match of the day, PCC defeated Young Star Sunderbani by six wickets. Batting first, after winning the toss, Young Star bowled out for 92 runs in 18 overs. Surjeet and Raju were main contributors with 28 and 29 runs respectively. From PCC, Gulzar and Ashok Kumar claimed three and two wickets respectively.
In reply, PCC chased the total rather easily making 93 runs in 11 overs. Balbir was main contributor to the total with 38 runs while Ashok Kumar added 23 and Sunny unbeaten 12. Sanjeev and Rakesh bagged a wicket each from Young Star.
For his all-round performance, Ashok was adjudged man of the match by the organizers, Singh Cricket Club.
Meanwhile, in another match, ACC Akhnoor registered a two-wicket win over Patoli Badshah Cricket Club (PBCC) Jammu by two wickets.
The PBCC lost all their wickets for 154 runs with Sanjay being the highest scorer. He played superb innings of 37-ball 68 runs studded with six sixes and six hits to the fence while Jai contributed 19 runs to the total. From ACC Akhnoor, Sourav and Ashok shared three wickets each.
Batting second, ACC Akhnoor reached 155 runs target in 19 overs with two wickets in hand. Sourav and Sunny remained top scorers with 30 and 28 runs in their respective accounts. Roshi, who came at No. nine position, made unbeaten 40 (off 21 balls, 3x4, 3x6). Rohit Sharma, Mohit and Kulbir shared two wickets each from PBCC Jammu.
For his match winning innings, Roshi was declared man of the match. Today’s match was officiated by Vikas Bali, Surinder Singh (umpires) and Sushil Gupta (scorer).
