CJM directs police to execute summons against separatists | Income Tax case | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, June 28: A local court has directed the Jammu and Kashmir police to execute summons against three separatist leaders on a case filed by Income Tax (IT) department alleging that these leaders have failed to file IT returns despite notices. The summons were issued by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Srinagar, Yashpaul Bourney, after the separatists--Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Mohammad Yaseen Malik, head of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), a constituent of moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) Shabir Ahmad Shah and Islamic Students League (ISL) chief Shakeel Ahmad Bakshi after they failed to appear before the court yesterday. The CJM has directed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Srinagar, Ashiq Bukhari to execute the summons against the separatist leaders. The judge had directed all the three separatist leaders to attend the court yesterday. However, the court issued fresh summons after the leaders failed to appear before the court neither were they represented by any counsel. The IT department has filed a case against the separatist leaders alleging that they have not filed the IT returns, thus concealed the details of their income and were evading tax. It further said the leaders have not replied to notice issued to them in June last year to file the returns for the year 2009-10
