Guv reviews arrangements on the eve of Yatra | Amarnath Yatra-2011 | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, June 28: The Governor, N N Vohra, who is the Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, undertook a comprehensive review of all the arrangements for the annual Shri Amarnathji Yatra, at a meeting held here today, which is all set to commence from the Baltal and Nunwan Base Camps tomorrow morning. The Governor undertook a detailed review of the Yatra-related arrangements made at the Base Camps, Camps enroute and in the Holy Cave area. Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), R K Goyal informed the Governor that the Shri Amarnath Barfani Langar Organisation (SABLO), with a view to maintain cleanliness in the entire Yatra area, particularly in and around the Langar areas, shall commence a sanitation drive from tomorrow which will continue throughout the Yatra period. As part of this campaign, the SABLO will also distribute cotton bags to the pilgrims, free of cost, and dissuade them from using plastic bags, with a view to preserve environment and ecology of the entire Yatra area. CEO further informed that 20 members of the two Mobile Rescue Teams (MRTs) of J&K Armed Police personnel, each comprising 10 experienced and well-trained mountaineers, have been stationed at Sheshnag and Poshpathri to facilitate the movement of Amarnath Yatris along critical/vulnerable stretches. These MRT personnel would be equipped with wireless sets and the required mountaineering equipment. These Teams would fix ropes along the critical stretches of the track between Sheshnag and Poshpathri for ensuring the safety of the Yatris. The Governor also reviewed the arrangements which have been finalized for operating Helicopter services between Baltal-Panjtarni and Pahalgam-Panjtarni from tomorrow. The one way heli-fare for Baltal-Panjtarni and Pahalgam-Panjtarni has been fixed at Rs 2425 and Rs 3450, respectively. Children in the age group of 2-12 years will be required to pay half the aforesaid fares. The Governor also reviewed the functioning of the Control Room set up by the Shrine Board to facilitate the Yatris undertaking the Shri Amarnathji pilgrimage. This Control Room is equipped with a 24-hour Helpline. Any person seeking information or help in regard to the Yatra, can call 0194-2501679. Taking stock of the registration of Yatris, the Governor was informed by the CEO that till last evening 2.47 lakh pilgrims had secured Yatra Permits for undertaking the pilgrimage, through the 149 designated Bank Branches located across the country and on-line e-Registration facility. Every Registered Yatri has been provided, at the cost of the Shrine Board, an Accidental Insurance Cover of Rs. one lakh. Additional Chief Executive Officer SASB, Preet Pal Singh and other officers of the Shrine Board participated in the meeting. |
