Sham visits Baltal yatra base camp, reviews arrangements | Fines doctors during surprise inspection | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Baltal (Ganderbal), June 28: Minister for Health, Sham Lal Sharma today visited yatra base camp at Baltal and reviewed the arrangements of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. Chairing a meeting of officers, the Minister stressed on close coordination among various departments and SASB authorities for smooth conduct of yatra. He laid special emphasis on sanitation arrangements and directed the SASB officials to erect more public utility points at different places around the base camp for the convenience of pilgrims as well as Langerwalas, ponywalas and shop keepers. He called for adopting people friendly approach for the pilgrimage. The Minister directed the administration to put in place adequate quantity of food grains, LPG cylinders, fire wood, kerosene oil, generator sets and regular supply of drinking water and power at the base camp and other important points en-route yatra track. He directed the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal to review the yatra arrangements on day-to-day basis and ensure that pilgrims do not face any kind of inconvenience. Sham took round of make shift medicare structure at the camp and directed the Director Health to ensure adequate quantity of medicines, portable oxygen cylinders and other life saving gadgets for meeting the requirements of pilgrims. He directed keeping sufficient number of ambulances at the camp site to meet the exigency, if any. The Minister also interacted with the pilgrims, shopkeepers and langerwalas and enquired about the facilities. He asked them to extend full support to the administration for achieving the common goals. En-route, the Minister made surprise visits to different health institutions and took stock of the medicare facilities. The inspected institutions included, district hospital, Ganderbal, trauma hospital, Kangan, Primary Health Centres, Gund and Sonamarg. He imposed fine of fined Rs 5000 on Medical Superintendent, DH, Ganderbal, Dr Mehraj-ud-Din for violating dress code and Rs. 2000 to Medical Superintendent, trauma hospital, Kangan, Dr. Nazir for poor sanitation in the hospital.
